We knew up front from the ultrasound that Maddie was only carrying two babies and while we always minimize C-Sections for the safety of our girls, I spoke in depth with Dr Jane, my repro vet and we both agreed due to only carrying two babies and this being Maddie's first litter she may have more difficulties going into labor which is common with only 1-2 puppies.

A scheduled C-Section was planned and performed on her due date of 10/31 and she was delivered of two big beautiful BOYS; 1 chocolate boy weighing 15.7 oz  and 1 black boy weighing 17.2 oz. Mom and babies are doing very good; babies are nursing wonderfully and its not uncommon for the "mothering hormones" to kick in up to 3 days after surgery. Since I sleep beside puppies for the first 4 weeks I am available to help her as much is needed.

12/28/2016 - Babies are growing so fast! Now 8 weeks old and running and playing. All gaining weight nicely and have had their 8 week old worming and first DAAPP vaccine. Vet check on Friday and then soon babies will be joining their new families. All are between 19-21 lbs each!! All puppy families to be contacted this week for final instructions - get ready families, your babies will be home soon.

12/21/2016 - the babies got to go outside and run and play as far and as long as they wanted...an hour later everyone was pooping out so in we came for nap time. Tomorrow they will go outside and I will get individual puppy pictures - new pictures loaded in the 2016 Puppy Gallery

12/19/2016 - Forgive my delay in updating everyone...my goodness these babies are growing so quickly. Puppies now on three feedings a day at 6 a.m. 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. and all are eating great! They are so consistent in their potty training. Yesterday all puppies went on a car ride and we did puppy evaluations with 6 other labrador breeders. We have chosen the puppies that are remaining here at EverOak Labradors and have decided which puppy will now go with which family and we are very, very excited for everyone. Babies are up running, biting tails and ears, barking and just precious. The babies are now completely weaned from their mom and now 7 weeks old!! Vaccines and microchips on 12/30/2016 and then soon the babies will be going to their new homes. Time has flown way too quickly.

12/7/2016 - Babies got full vet exams and NeoPar (Parvo Only) vaccine...all nice and healthy!! Next exam/vaccines 12/28/2016

12/5/2016 - Babies are FANTASTIC! They are getting so big and personalities are coming out...we have quiet ones, bold ones and those in between. They get books read to them daily and music and movies...I sit in with them for several hours a day with their socialization...they all like to climb in your lap and kiss, kiss and kiss more. They wrestle with each other, pull tails and ears then fall asleep in a big puppy pile. This week on Wednesday, 12/7 they will receive their first parvo vaccine...I am truly going to miss these babies but I am so excited for their new families!

11/26/2016- Babies are growing so fast! Maddie's two babies will be 4 weeks old on Monday, 11/28. Weaning to solid food has begun. The babies are still shared between Maddie and Fanta so each are still nursing 4 babies each several times a day BUT we have now added puppy gruel 2x a day...everyone up and walking around, barking, playing with one another. New pictures have been added today to the joint puppy album.

11/19/2016 - Sorry for the update delay, its been really busy around here. Updated pictures are in the Fanta/Maddie 2016 album since both girls are raising all of the babies as a joint effort.  Maddie's two sons are HUGE - CRAZY HUGE so they have been in no hurry to get up and walk around. Black male, IKE is quite content to belly crawl but he is up most of the time on his feet...that boy has NEVER missed a meal. Everyone has their eyes open and they are so adorable...they smell like ...mmmm BABY...

11/6/2016 - Maddie's two sons are doing wonderful and gaining weight really fast - milk bar is full!! She is also raising two of Fanta's babies to go along with her two sons. Pictures from today of Maddie's sons and the two boys she is also raising that Fanta whelped.

    

               

 

11/4/2016 - Maddie's babies are now 4 days old and doing fantastic. Maddie is a wonderful first time mommy taking care of her babies perfectly. Since she only two babies and has plenty of milk I did move two of her best friend Fanta's babies in with the two boys, a black female and a chocolate male as sometimes it does take a village and neither girl minds sharing babies.
